What CBX 2019 Is All About

COLLABORATION | IDEA SHARING | NETWORKING

The City Building Expo (CBX) is an OPPI Toronto District Partnership Event bringing together practicing and future city builders to engage with each other in a collaborative setting among peers from many diverse backgrounds such as architects, planners, engineers, urban designers, landscape architects, land economists and policy makers.

The event is co-hosted by the Ryerson University School of Urban & Regional Planning and the University Of Toronto John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design.

The focus of this year's expo is 'Growing Cities.' Toronto is one of the fastest growing cities in North America, which means its identity and shape are in continuous flux. How do manage this change? How do we ensure all residents can age together, instead of pushing those young and old to edges of the city? And how do we continue to grow in the wake of looming climate change?

The City Building Expo will include panel discussions that investigate the emerging questions of urban sustainability and aging in cities, design workshops that enable participants to provide their expertise in solving a need for more density in Toronto, and a keynote presentation that explores Toronto's future as a growing city.

Tickets are free for high school and post-secondary students, but only a limited amount are available. All tickets for professionals are $20. All tickets include breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack. Please visit Eventbrite for selection of tickets.

The idea for this conference originated within the Ryerson University School of Urban & Regional Planning and has evolved into a partnership the University of Toronto. The collaboration of student organizers is both cross-university and cross-disciplinary with the following groups having committed significant time, resources and energy to bring you City Building Expo:
